A chat with Robyn Taylor, onboarding associate

It’s time for another instalment of ‘Behind the Scenes at Florence’. This week we’re talking to Robyn, one of our onboarding associates working in our Birmingham office.

Who are you and what do you do at Florence?

I’m Robyn Taylor and I’m an onboarding associate at the Florence Birmingham hub. I speak to potential workers for Florence. We help with their application status, such as any issues they might have like help with a DBS.

I also help with any other queries they might have about Florence, as we’re not like a typical agency because you pick the shifts yourself.

I suppose I’m also there as a helping hand to get people to the compliant stage and then they go to their account manager.

What made you want to join Florence?

It was the blending of healthcare and a bit of recruitment, I do like the recruitment aspect and I’ve worked in healthcare previously.

I think it’s a good idea how they’ve put the two together and met the demand of being able to work for yourself but not being sent to a place you don’t want to go to.

Florence gives people a lot of flexibility within their work and home lives and I really like that.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?

That’s a difficult one, I’d say for me it’s about reevaluating your emotions to not react in the heat of the moment.

It’s important to always sit back and assess the situation before you respond which is a good thing when working with people.

What’s your favourite thing about working at Florence?

Working in a team, we all collaborate really well and bounce off each other.

Whenever anyone needs help in regards to something you’re not certain of, you know someone will be there to help.

Our group is quite eclectic, there’s people from different walks of life and bringing different sets of skills to the table so that’s quite fun.

We go into the office on a hybrid basis so I’m in the office three days a week and two days at home.

What’s a fun fact about you that might surprise us?

I got to hold the Olympic torch in Banff in 2010 because they were holding the Winter Olympic Games and the runner ran past me, so I managed to snap a picture with them.

That was a nice addition to the holiday!

What piece of advice would you give someone thinking about joining Florence?

To always keep in mind your friends and family. In terms of when you’re trying to work through people’s applications, judge it as though “would you want this person to look after your vulnerable friends and family”?

To always, keep that in mind as it’s not just information and data on a piece of paper, they’re people and they will be working with vulnerable people.

We need to remember to do our bit to make sure that they’re protected as well.

Where would you like to see Florence in 5 years time?

Work on expanding to Canada so I can go back! I know it’s a bit cold and stuff, but it’s pretty!

Think Robyn’s job sounds like the job for you? We’re hiring for onboarding associates and many other roles. Check them out here.
